Multitalented singer, songwriter & producer Francis Jocky is something of an enigma, an artist with an universal appeal and blessed with a unique voice. Raised in Paris, France and now living in New York City, Francis Jocky has developed a sound that transcends borders. His first solo album, “Mr. Pain,” made a big splash in the music community and unleashed his undeniable talent to the world. Everyone who hears Jocky sings demands more.
He is rapidly becoming an international personality, sharing the microphone with the likes of Bono of U2 and Stevie Wonder, just to name a few. His latest project, an EP entitle "SANCTIFIED", produced and recorded in New York City features some of music top producers and recording engineers including extraordinary Writer/Producer Andrew Wyatt (Janet Jackson, Destiny's Child, Eric Benet, Kylie Minogue etc... ) and Grammy Award Winner Scott Jacoby (John Legend, Ayo, Naturally Seven, etc.. ).
Jocky is one of today’s most original and inspiring musicians. On "SANCTIFIED" he blends aspects of Classic Rock n Roll, Pop, and Soul into a patchwork of tracks that will find a home in any true music lover’s collection. Listeners may hear echoes of Seal, Sting and The Police compositions.
The tracks are upbeat, yet pleasing, and Jocky’s lyrics are warm, inviting and yes, intellectual. On the title track, “Sanctified” he opens with delicate acoustic guitar and an exceptional voice. “I put my lips to the holy wine, I drop to my knees so broken inside, and I leave here sanctified, I pray your love, my soul to keep.” He sings, as the keys trickle in like gentle rain. He sings with honesty and conviction, without being pretentious. "For me, music should speak to the soul, connect us to our common humanity and allows us to dream, feel, but most importantly, it should make us live'' says the artist.
From an early age he learned to express himself through music and by the age of twelve had begun playing piano and writing his own songs. Francis Jocky has a wonderful duality as an artist, which probably has its roots in his combined educational and musical training. He is the recipient of a Ph.D. from the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris, France, combined with being a critically acclaimed musician and artist.
Many have approach him in collaborating on various music projects including one with the legendary Jon Anderson, lead singer of the band YES. In their collaboration, the band "Know" was formed and signed by Eagle Rock Entertainment. He composed fourteen songs of the band's critically acclaimed album “The More You Know”. He also recorded for “A Tribute to Sting”.
Over the years, Francis Jocky continues to participate in high profile concerts. He was involved in the MIDEM music conference in Cannes and shared the stage with music genius Stevie Wonder (in Monte Carlo). The responses from the shows were overwhelming and the media hailed him “The New Sensation”. Thus he was invited to play the Nemo Music Festival (as part of the Boston Music Awards).
While his recorded music is remarkable, live performances are his strength. During a live performance with Bono, he remarked “Francis, you are a star!”
After working or sharing the mic with artists such as Jon Anderson, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Jacques Higelin, Isaac Hayes, Ray Lema and Wally Badarou among many others, Francis Jocky continues his solo journey with his second release "SANCTIFIED", talking about love, the state of the world and the human condition. "SANCTIFIED" is inspired by New York City according to the artist. "I have traveled the world, and there is no other city like New York. The energy keeps you moving, it's raw and it fusels your creativity. The city challenges you to be the best yet, it has no place for compassion" says Francis Jocky. It only demands the best and that was "SANCTIFIED" is.
